A Relationship That Could Have Been is part of a series of botanical text-based work based on a fictitious potion of forgetfulness, a medicine that is said to help one to forget sorrow and pain, mentioned in Homer’s Odyssey. Using stories of loss collected and contributed from the public, the grief is translated into a series of texts created delicately with preserved flowers and foliages and encased in a clear acrylic frame. The use of flowers are commonly seen in the tributes of mourning, commemoration and condolences and in the same thoughts, the artwork hopes to extend itself as gentle hopes and comfort for what has been lost.
