Light moves at a speed of 299 km per millisecond. An astoundingly short travel time when going from Rome to Florence.
I rolled a yellow cotton thread of the same length into many balls of different sizes. Some of these bright yellow spheres are found within a ‘black hole’ bronze sculpture, positioned on a high black marble base, while others are placed around as well as underneath.
In this installation I want us to ‘touch’ the light, delicately warm and feel the color. The balls look like suns, rather than being absorbed by the black hole, they are contrarily born from the midst of darkness and uncertainty.
How many more infinite, unimaginable far or foreign forms are we capable of conceptualizing?
