Inferno, Canto III (1-9) - Dante Alighieri
Per me si va ne la città dolente,
per me si va ne l’etterno dolore,
per me si va tra la perduta gente.
Giustizia mosse il mio alto fattore;
fecemi la divina podestate,
la somma sapienza e ’l primo amore.
Dinanzi a me non fuor cose create
se non etterne, e io etterno duro.
Lasciate ogne speranza, voi ch’intrate.
Through me is the way to the city of woe.
Through me is the way to sorrow eternal.
Through me is the way to the lost below.
Justice moved my architect supernal.
I was constructed by divine power,
supreme wisdom, and love primordial.
Before me no created things were.
Save those eternal, and eternal I abide.
All hope abandon, ye who enter here.

I visit the posthumous retrospective ‘Robert Rauschenberg’ at Tate Modern, London.
Rauschenberg's
work, his combinations of found objects & found footage
– leading
to a new iconography –
inspires me to explore new territory in my own
photography.
I call it: Veridica.
Modern techniques make it easy to blend images in much the same way
that slides were superimposed previously.
Rauschenberg's physical transfer process has become the abstract processing of digits.
Drawing on my collection of film and digital photos, I start combining.
There is no end to it, it is limitless; it may become dangerous.

Over time several themes emerged in the Veridica series:

My final goal is to illustrate La Divina Commedia Inferno by Dante Alighieri in this Veridica-style.
The photograph shown here is one of the first studies for this project.
