This mural depicts Venice and was photographed from the island of Giudecca with a view of St. Mark's Church and the Doge's Palace. The photo was taken around midday in November 2022. At first I wanted to take the photo from the island of San Giorgio and traveled by vaporetto over the Giudecca Canal and chose the best spot right next to the canal. After the water level was at its highest in the morning, the passing motorboats also created higher waves and each time washed my tripod with water. Nevertheless, I managed to get some great photos. After taking the first shot, I looked towards the neighboring island of Giudecca and realized that from there I had an even better perspective of the front of the houses. Of course I took the vaporetto straight to this island and was rewarded with the best perspective. The sun also ventured out between the clouds for about 15 minutes and I was able to photograph this great panorama.
It was important to me to photograph a mood that many of you would recognize from your Venice vacation or from pictures. This picture contains a history of Venice that is over 1000 years old. In the middle of the picture you can see St. Mark's Basilica and the famous Doge's Palace.
