This piece is part of a larger body of work exploring the changing face of the rural towns of the Southeastern United States. In contrast to more urban centers that are putting a new face on what the region is in a larger context, the rural towns struggle to find a fit in this changing identity. Exuding a sense of pride and stoicism, mixed with hope and an obvious slow decline, its past is very much its present. The images do not praise, nor criticize, but are an ode to a slowly fading present.
