The city is an empty place (12 single photographs, 40x30cm each)
"The
city is an empty place" series is freely inspired by Chico Buarque's song
"As vitrines" (The shop Windows), which addresses the frustration of
a passionate character who chases the beloved through the city without ever
obtaining from her even the perception of his presence.
The urban
life in the contemporaneity potentiates ambiguities and relativizes the social
relations. Lonely in the crowds, we live near and far at the same time. We
participate in countless virtual groups, but we move away from each other.
Imprecised
and monochromatic, with people alone or in groups, the images were made in
large metropolitan buildings such as shopping malls and airports - the
"non-places" in the Mark Augé's concept, spaces of anonymity,
incapable of giving shape to any kind of identity or to create links and
conexions.
