I have always been fascinated by the paintings of the
expressionist August Macke. Leisure and joie de vivre during Sunday walks,
surrounded by colourful autumn leaves, are among his chosen motifs, such as
"People at the Blue Lake" or "Sunny Path" from 1913. It is
under this impression that my most colourful works are created.
In contrast to his paintings, my photos experience their
liveliness without depicting real people. The colourful autumn leaves take over
the dominance of the photo and open up the visual space for inline skaters,
cyclists, joggers or walkers who, as in Macke's work, enjoy their Sunday
leisure time full of joie de vivre.
It may be a coincidence that August Macke and I were born in
the same place, his colours and images come to mind when I myself immerse
myself in nature with leisure and joie de vivre, perceive its colourful
liveliness and paint it as a photographer.
