The work comes from Spazio di un Fiore (eng. Space of the Flower), a photographic series started in 2023, which to date consists of 29 images, each of which uncovers the beauty of a single flower as if it were an entire universe.
The photograph results from the artist's careful observation of a tulip and study of how its structure and architecture change over time, how the flower expands its space with the pigments oozing out of the petals and creating constellations of pollen and bubbles.
The process of observation took about 11 days.
Working on this project, Maria Sky is always following simple but strict rules:
Work only after midnight. There must be only one flower in the photograph, which is photographed with only one light source. No post-production is used, except for slight adjustments of contrasts in case they were lost during the conversion from RAW to JPEG.
The process of observation usually takes between 3 and 25 days.
