Sinecittà 04

Sinecittà is a Zeroscena photographic series made by Luka Bagnoli, Annalisa Ghiro, Elisa La Boria and Claudio Rao. 
Sinecittà shows the falling apart of reality and, at the same time, the opening to new scenarios, highly needed during the COVID pandemic and pursued through technology.
It seems to be in a movie set: just like in Federico Fellini’s Amarcord, the city is nothing but a reproduction. The lonely subjects, taken from a film photography archive, fit in backgrounds completely modeled on computer using a 3D software. In this still ongoing series, traditional analogue photography lives together with digital graphics techniques, modifying our perception of the manscape. Sinecittà is an imaginary reportage which underlines the continuous hybridizing of photographer’s vision and the software’s eye.

Looking at these images, we ask ourselves: is there still a city to photograph beyond the pixel walls?
