The Last Reading in the Blue Velvet Room, 2022

The Last Reading in the Blue Velvet Room, 2022 Inside old houses in the city of São Paulo, given over to anarchic and ungoverned real estate speculation. I witness and record through the presence and gesture of my body, these suspended in-between spaces - between an already non-existent home, and a building that is yet to come. In this house, I excavated the wall and inserted an obsolete law book (my human instinct, and practice in the studio in keeping affective memories). Before “putting it back on the shelf”, I read an excerpt. A last reading in this room, a rite of passage. The next day the house was demolished.
