Toast to
life! This work celebrates precious moments when we rejoice with friends and
family. During his whole life, my father emphasized the importance of taking
time from our hectic everyday schedules and to stop to smell the flowers. To
appreciate the mundane, small, and ordinary things in our daily lives, as well
as our milestone experiences, is to live life to its fullest and to take nothing
for granted. In this family plot in Berlin, I saw the flowers as a celebration
of lives lived that I could relate to and that also connected to these Jewish women
in Lublin, who shared a joyous moment together, before they most likely
perished in the Holocaust. I celebrate their lives. I celebrate their memory.
