This series is of real flames and fire mirrored and repeated six times to obtain the effect as seen. Each flame is unique, as is each image. Some flames flicker softly, others are dramatic and dangerous. It is easy to be enchanted by fire which can steal one's gaze.
Each who look into fire might see something different - unique to their own vision. The photographs are thus as Rorschach ink blot tests. One might imagine animal or zoomorphic forms, others might perceive skeletal structures and parts of human anatomy. Others yet might be haunted by their own visions of beings from other dimensions. No two journeys into the fire are the same.
The original series, other than for contrast and tone correction, has very little further manipulation. Series II which this image is part of has significant further manipulation of colours. The series title alludes to the act of playing with the images on the computer but also the risks of working with open flame.
