Plastic Fantastic By TOMAAS
This surreal photography series is capturing the ethereal beauty of a woman adorned with plastic items we use every day, such as plastic bottles, plastic bags, plastic forks, plastic straws, tubes, etc. The idea was to demonstrate that there are beauty and artistic potential in both artificial and natural objects. By creating art made from plastic and repurposing them in a creative and thought-provoking way, I try to unveil to the viewer the conscious design decisions behind each and every product — products that we unthinkingly consume every day at a rapid rate, or ones that we might condemn for their wastefulness. By immortalizing the designs, textures, and colors of a found object in a photograph, I hope to present to the viewer beauty where we might have seen nothing before, fostering a fleeting-yet-deep appreciation of these materials which permeate our present-day human habitats. It`s an exceptional depiction of plastic awareness in an artistic expression. The recycled plastic material is an overwhelming textile with a versatile significance in our everyday life. It is the most common material used by the people becoming an integral part of our existence. This ubiquity of synthetic structure can also establish the meaning of “the new black” among materials that in other words can result in “fantastic” connotation.
