Inspired by the conquest of space and thanks to the daily communication of Thomas Pesquet (French astronaut) during his “Alpha” mission in space, the “Space Flowers” series was created during the 2nd confinement in 2021. I had a vital need to see the infinitely small travel towards the infinitely large, so that daydreaming can make me escape far from my four walls.
Through this series of 15 photos, I wanted to pay tribute to the women who, through their courage and their extraordinary exploits, have not only pushed back the frontiers of astronomy and aerospace conquest, but who have also especially pushed back the frontiers of thought. Each photo bears the name of one of these women, most of them unjustly forgotten.
These flowers, rendered only by light and movement, not by digital editing, represent the delicate beauty of our planet and of all life on Earth: this life so fragile, wonderful and unique, traveling in the cold and lifeless darkness of the space around us. My rocket, the flower, is with us, earthlings, another masterpiece of the art of imperfection with celestial geometries that our planet has created.
