In this
self-portrait, the protagonist is focused on looking at the interiority of her
soul. We see her there, on the edge of the pool, wondering if she is about to
throw her inside or if she just wants to see her own reflection in that dark
water. Huge Japanese carp swim under the surface of the water, like many
thoughts that follow one another. There is no respite to this image if not for
that moment of relief given by the garden that opens up behind her and by the
golden light of sunset that almost tries to show her the way.
