“Mistaken Identity” challenges many assumptions accompanying cisgender persons, e.g. that a sense of personal identity and gender correspond with birth sex. And, in a broader sense, it opens a discussion about not only the adequacy of binary gender assignment but also about the ways and means of educating the public on such complicated issues.
