Studies say that rising ocean waters will completely inundate many incredible places around the world and many coastal land areas within the next few decades. Metropolis was inspired by the notion of how risen waters doomed a city of the future, possibly creating a (unwelcoming?) place for classic noir photography.
— The artwork is a tribute for those who suffered, who are at jeopardy or will be victimized for inequalities in the way that dry land is unfairly distributed. The intent of Metropolis is not to be a repetitive statement about how the rich and powerful seize all the dry land for themselves, but to create an emotional reaction and hopefully contribute to avoid a "noir flooded future" in the world.
