Migration
is universal. It always happened and it will ever happen.
It is an
expression of human distress and desire.
In the
1980s millions of people migrated to the former German Federal Republic (West
Germany).
In 1989 half a million people crossed the borders to stay in Germany
forever.
They were housed in camps like the pictured former barracks.
The German
residents were protesting, afraid of losing their wealth due to the immigrants.
Thirty
years later all these immigrants are an integral part of the German society.
New
immigrants are constantly arriving, only with little luggage which they are trying to identify upon arrival to keep at least some material manifestation of memories...
