HEAVEN - Through the lens, a flower may become a cathedral, a cloud, a universe you can walk - or swim, crawl, fly.. - in, have visions, and learn about impermanence, evanescence, life, death, mystery, surrender. Heaven is here and now.
“Heaven” images are macrophotographies of flowers, or part of flowers, tending to abstraction, thanks to the use of small depth of field in close-ups. I am trying to catch flower’s sensuality and scent, and create synestesia between visual, tactile and olfactory feelings.
I begun to shoot flowers driven by the emotions raised in me by Ernst Haas’s flowers, at first, then I discovered the eroticism of Georgia O’Keeffe’s paintings, and of Robert Mapplethorpe’s calla lilies, great authors who inspired me, though I feel the need to combine my personal spiritual research with eros: our skin veils, but may also reveal, soul’s light, just like petals do with sun light, to whom is delicate and respectful, able to be silent, and to listen.
The moments I spend “inside” flowers are among the most luminous, intimate, pleasant and revitalizing of my life.
