Young, passionate and impulsive,
What else do you need to be creative?
Just inspiration paired with a little bit of naivety,
ended up in endless creativity.
Sitting in my room, listening to the sound of techno beats,
and holding my camera, is all my creativity needs.
And all of a sudden I took these pictures with the beautiful
into the blue, without knowing what to do.
Call it coincidence or call it art.
From that point it was not that hard,
getting inspired by everything I see,
with a second project that caused so much glee.
Having a different look at second glance,
remembering this as a huge chance.
Our lives and surroundings are full of this,
I captured some moments using my pseudonyme “Ki.S“.
However, the only place where I present my work,
is the corridor of my small but beautiful flat.
And this is - beeing honest to myself - too sad.
My series of
pictures "Into the blue" tells the story of how I started with photography. I wanted to try my digital camera. Until then, I had
always used my camera with automatic settings. That evening I manually selected
a random setting for the camera, which initially resulted in a much too dark
image. I then changed the setting again and took a picture as a selfie.
I couldn't see the camera's display while taking the photo.
This series of
images has not much to do with what I'm currently photographing. I focus
on the photography of objects in my environment and often put them in a
completely new context. Pictures with contradicting elements that provoke and
attract attention are the subject of current work. What remains is a preference
for photography of people and portraits. I keep using the setting that led to
this shade of blue in the pictures. It is unimportant whether you can see
everything and whether reality is depicted in my photographs. Blurred or
missing elements encourage the viewer to reflect, interpret and add their own
intellectual elements. My work is always complemented by a poem, a sound
installation or a performance. In this case, the poem added at the beginning of my concept complements my series of pictures.
played an essential role in the creation process. With this series of pictures
they supported and pushed me in my creative "workflow". The sounds
match the blue and subdued light in my pictures. A light that you might find in
a club. In this photo, I was particularly fascinated by my own hair structure.
The unevenness and unruliness of individual hair paired with great shine and
different colors from gray to brown to blue. I've never seen myself like this
I stick my
fingers into my hair or, better said, I stick them through the hair into the
blue. The movement of my hand is therefore a symbol for the title of my series
of pictures and the title of this first picture, the beginning of a passion for photography. It is a preference
that aroses spontaneously, impulsively, from the bottom of my heart and into
*In German the term "into the blue (ins Blaue hinein)" refers to an action you do intuitively without a purpose or aim.
