This work is a critical reflection on the image proliferation in the contemporary world and mushrooms are a symbol of such a proliferation.
The reflection has also a critical and playful aspect: starting from the drawing of one mushroom, all the mushrooms we see are its digital reproduction. The final result, an analog contact print, is the sum of a series of steps from one medium to another.
Halfway between drawing and photography, this is finally a reflection on photography today and on what can be considered original and authorial. In the sentence quote within the composition, Walter Benjamin uses the word ‘magic’: a parallelism can now be found in the use of digital technologies, which are intended to create 'enchanting and prodigious' effects.
