I am inept at using words and I sincerely seek to explain feelings and emotions through images, and thus not be silenced.
These photos are part of the "Hidden Obvious" series about mixed races and are strongly inspired by the song "Um Índio" by Brazilian singer and composer Caetano Veloso.
He speaks gracefully about the power of simple things, nature, respect, purity and the beauty of races and the possible coexistence between them.
That song contains so much of what I would like to tell and with these photos I tried, that's how I saw it.
To represent this journey I chose a common but impenetrable white stone, going through different situations, floating in the air or in water, other times submerging in water and ink, traveling through fire and standing out in black sand... And remaining practically intact.
In this project, all the digital photos were taken on small sets set up in a studio, with a Canon camera and lenses, using natural light, Broncolor and Elinchron flashes and Dedolight sources. Later digitally manipulated in Photoshop, contrast adjustments, retouching, cropping were made and, when finishing some photos, parts of other clicks from the same session were applied.
