The series Geo-memories #1 - Bangkok explores the relation between water
and architecture in Bangkok, along the Chao Phraya river. My research extends to the way places impregnate our
memory. I don’t believe in the notion of “one” but rather of “multiple” when it
comes to images and memories. I therefore used the multiple exposure process to
compress several angles, instants and long distances into a single impression. It relates to the notion of souvenir more than a documentation.
As a technical note, I want to stress that all final
images are made in situ and in camera, without any digital
manipulation afterwards. This allows a
direct connection to the scenery and time of photographing, also letting some
room unpredictability. As an artist, I don’t want to fully control the process
leading to the visual outcome; rather, I see myself as a catalyst between the
photographed subject and its visual rendering.
