The fragility and beauty of connection became so important within this isolation period of the pandemic, both with others and with oneself. For me, as someone who fights with her own darkness, I perceive this isolation almost as a gift. If I can grow, connect with myself and bloom all on my own, then I could achieve anything with the people I love once this isolation is lifted.
I took this self portrait last year to represent my narration of isolation and self-growth. This skin, this flesh, is merely a chrysalis cultivated to connect with others. What is yet to burst out from this shell is our true, extraordinary, and breathtaking selves, and sometimes isolation is what it takes to make that happen. It allows us to really connect with our souls and learn ways to nurture them.
