What does happen to changing bodies, their sexuality and the way they interact intimately with themselves and with another person?
I decided to investigate situations in which this so-called normality is put into crisis, to reveal the sides and the depth of the dialogue that the physical identity in which we recognize and represent ourselves.
A personal investigation which then extended to other stories, always about women because the censorship to which female bodies are subjected have always been greater.
The project develops by creating Polaroid portraits that are manipulated by the women photographed, but also by reporting the condition of dysfunction and distance that is created in such situations, in relation to the social expectations in which one is born and raised (especially women).
A woman's body that goes through invasive and precocious physical changes is forced to review the experience of itself. Reassemble skin tissues and relationships in a context of unshakable guidelines. Recognize yourself in new layers of an often invisible fragility that filters reality and makes it jagged. Stories of nameless bodies but with identities undermined by impaired perceptions, in the short or long term. Sexuality temporarily interrupted or changed.
Premature menopause, for example, pharmacologically induced or as consequence of very strong therapies, involves physical and emotional reactions of which very little is spoken.
Even those who experience them find it hard to share them.
The invitation is to enter in these universes which at first glance do not seem to have imperfections but which are instead undermined bodies, by therapies and interventions, in an often irreparable way.
What is the role of women, today and in the past? What are a woman's wishes and expectations, despite what society projects on her?
