This photo is part of a series of photos called "Colours of Ethiopia: Somali series". In this photo, as in the rest of the series, I wanted to show the powerful role of women in my country, Ethiopia. In this particular case, I represented women in a market in Jijiga, the capital of the Somali Regional State. The photos are actually two: I used the technique of double exposure. A colorful market scene curdles and coagulates and its participants, the women, juxtapose against the raw grains they will soon prepare or sell.
