The Body of the City series states a proof to my fascination
of bodily skin of the city. The structure and matter of
everyday things often go unnoticed. City space offers its
audience an endless stream of skins and (un-)coverings.
Sometimes it seems to be a delicate though diverse
epidermis; other times it looks like a microscope picture.
At the same time, close-up of a lens means a farther
distance from the photographed object – and closer to
abstraction. What was discovered during collection and
processing of materials was paint-like picturesqueness
of the objects, and yet they don’t come from the art
world.
Body of the City can be characterized by mobility: pictures
can be freely arranged; their vertical and horizontal
positions can be exchanged. This leaves the audience
with a feeling of a puzzle set that can create loosely
chosen object (set of patterns, pictures).
