BLACKBERRIES FOOD-iD by mxprivé
„The taste is in the foreground and the product is the star.“
This is the credo of most (top) chefs and at the same time reflects the opinion of many foodies and restaurant critics.
FOOD-iD is my attempt to deal with this guiding principle, from the point of view and with the means of a photographer.
Taste is not visible, so I focus on the colors and textures that give each product their own identity.
My work is very intuitive, so it happened by chance that on the day of the shoot I received a package of black tissue paper.
The curved and rumpled structure, after spreading the previously crumpled paper, reminded me of a volcanic crater and perfectly matched a handmade small bowl made by artist Jojo Corväiá from black volcanic clay.
The clay gives the bowl an exceptional hardness as well as a unique character in texture and expression. I arranged everything on my kitchen table and took the picture with my iPhone.
The resulting monochrome color rush and the play of daylight and texture enhance the properties of the blackberry, but without pushing it into the background as the real star of the picture.
