The Arte Laguna Prize finalist was already successful in 2023
with his picture series "Auf der Kippe / On the brink". He has been
dealing with urban found objects for years, staging painterly-looking stilllifes
of everyday, worthless stuff in colour, disorder and dissolution in his
photography. His current submission takes as its theme the "Art of
Balance". The series features tin cans, cups, jars, boxes and other stuff
stacked and piled into daring constructions. Different materials and objects
enter into contradictory and temporary alliances that, balanced and seemingly
frozen, show an unstable moment of balance. Imposing and witty constructions
emerge. A seemingly stable moment of an extremely unstable figure. It doesn't
take much to bring everything crashing down, so that perhaps in the next moment
everything collapses and hits the ground with a great roar.
The "art of balance" seems like a
metaphor for the complexity of our everyday life with its historical stratifications,
multidimensional Appearance, fragile alliances and reckless actions.
