This series is a reprinting of images my father took in 1982 during his time as a part of the research mission at the SANAP base in Antarctica. I have recreated the image as a new original (all of the film negatives were lost in a fire). The landscape probably doesn’t exist in this form any longer due to global warming. The images always intrigue me with their vast space and classical explorer style. As we move forward in this time, I look back at these images of the past with longing. I wonder if it is possible to reclaim, recapture or recreate our new world in the image of the one we were gifted and have now partly destroyed. Climate change has so greatly impacted me in my own country and the way I use resources, I only hope that with looking at such captivating landscapes we can be inspired for change.
There are four images in the series, all the same size in the same medium of photolithography using a duotone method.
