Three 5-litre plastic canisters, containing a total of 15 litres of water from the Venice lagoon, and a video.
The work documents a desperate and meaningless first attempt to save Venice from the rise of the sea caused by global warming. The Venice lagoon rises every year by 2.5mm and its surface is about 368.5km2. Therefore, the volume of water that increases every year in the lagoon is 921 million 250 thousand liters. In Italy there are around 60 million and 360 thousand inhabitants. To save the city then, every year, each Italian must go to Venice and take away with him 15 liters of water from the lagoon.
TENTATIVO N.1 represents an extreme and naive solution to convince Italian citizens to act together to save an artistic and cultural heritage unique in the world and, of course, the life and history of the people who live there and visit Venice every day.
