FINJA SANDER - Performance 13 (2019, Calci, Italy)
Last year, I travelled to a short residence in Tuscany, for doing some research and getting a rest. For me, the most important thing, after arriving, was to find out my own structure, inventing rituals and habits in the unknown surrounding. It was all about adapting and self-identifying with the environment.
After a few days I discovered a disused quarry and old tools and used materials. I used these things for experimenting and finally found these tubes which really fascinated me. So I came every day for performing with them. I took the with me, to the house I stayed, filmed every performative sequence and repeated the sessions for all in all over 10 days. The outcome is something like a movement and object study. At the end, the body and the tubes were bonding and transforming into one object positioning itself within a nature, that is ruff and welcoming at the same time. I reduced the colors into a monochrome collection of videos. The monochrome aesthetic concretes the abstract forms and actions of the body together with the tubes.
