VENUS & MARS
Within performing Art, investigation of human rituals is a way to explore and express the secret and untold essence of the body, seen as a social, sexual and spiritual space.
Mythology, Philosophy, Alchemy, Religion and Art have been since ever associated and related with the Mystery (from the Latin world mysterium or from the ancient Greek μυστήριον connotating a “secret rite” and the “initiated one”). They represent all together an approach to sense, aware and track the very meaning of the world through a non-rational pathway.
“Venus and Mars” is a duet taken from the piece "About gods, angels, humans" an exceptional production of the Freies Tanz Ensemble, where the ensemble's revolve around the great theme of transformation - transformation in nature, in wildlife, in human life, and in myths and mysteries from Ovid's “Metamorphoses".
In the Duett of Mars and Venus some people of the public are asked to sit at a great bacchanal table behind the scene which is full up with water. They become observers or voyeurs of this mystery world from afar and see them exposed in their core issues.
A Greek Myths is shown here, the power of Venus on the will of Mars, who is seduced and abandoned again by Venus, is the only moment of revenge of the female world of the ancient Greek Mythology, where women are not sexual victims. The bodies of the two performers are flowed through to a living collective of an ethereal energy that transforms, adjusts and renames what has hitherto was informal and pure desire.
The duett can be performed in and outside of a water stage.
