Description:
I propose an interactive art performance titled "Liquid Therapy" for Arte Laguna in Venice. This immersive experience invites participants to engage in the creation of abstract art by using wine as a medium. The performance is designed not only to be visually stunning but also to provide a multi-sensory exploration of wine as an artistic tool. Participants will immerse themselves in the unique sensory experience of wine art, liberating their creativity by throwing, splashing, and dripping wine onto tablecloths. This art journey delves into profound concepts of transformation and the therapeutic power of art.
The overarching theme is healing – a journey of breaking free from societal constraints and uncovering emotional wounds. This theme is deeply personal, rooted in my own trauma, as I was a United Airlines flight attendant on 9/11, experiencing a profound loss of colleagues and friends. Art became my refuge, and now I share that refuge with the world.
Preparation:
We require an appropriate exhibition space, equipped with protective measures such as plastic sheets to safeguard surrounding areas.A designated "throwing zone" will be established at a safe distance to minimize damage risk.Clear rules and guidelines will be provided to participants. We will provide wine, a variety of wine glasses, champagne glasses, droppers, handheld sprays for throwing/splashing or spraying.
Communication and Collaboration:
Communication and Collaboration:Open and transparent communication with artists and event organizers ensures mutual consent and cooperation throughout the process. Our aim is to convey the message of healing and transformation at any age through our wine art, illustrating resilience, growth, and the potential for renewal.
Enhancements (if space allows):
Lighting: Warm, soft lighting and spotlights will create a soothing ambiance while highlighting the throwing area.Music and Ambiance: Soft, soothing music will complement the healing theme, crafting a serene atmosphere.Artist Statement and Descriptions: Each participant in the performance will receive a stack of note cards elegantly wrapped in a silver ribbon, along with a leaflet explaining the inspiration and the healing message behind the wine art.Promotion and Marketing: We will utilize social media, and event promotional materials to generate excitement, sharing the artistic journey, creative process, and the story behind the healing theme.Collaborations: We will explore partnerships with local wineries for potential sponsorship to deepen community involvement.Feedback and Reflection: Visitors will be encouraged to share their feedback through a QR code, helping us understand how this performance art resonates with the audience.
Key Details of my Proposal:
1. Purpose: The primary purpose of this performance is to blend the worlds of fine art and sensory engagement, creating collaborative artworks that showcases the beauty in chaos and diversity in creativity. The collective art tablecloths will be framed and sold after the event, with 100% of the proceeds donated to a charitable cause, which will be announced at the event.
2. Set-Up Complexity: The set-up involves arranging a table with wine glasses, wine bottles, and a stack of tablecloths. The table should be positioned to allow comfortable access for participants. Protective measures will be taken to minimize mess or venue damage.
3. Safety Measures: we will oversee the art-throwing process to ensure a safe experience for all participants.
4. Clean-Up: After the performance, a thorough clean-up will done.
Conclusion:
Our objective is to create a comprehensive, immersive experience that deeply resonates with our audience, conveying a story that harmonizes with wine art and its healing message. We aim to provide each participant with a captivating and unforgettable experience that embodies the themes of healing and transformation, transcending age boundaries. Through this performance, we aspire to be a source of inspiration and hope for all who choose to participate.
