Facade
It is rare for things to be exactly as one would expect. I grew up in a bridal shop and have been a bridal model for half my life. I have worn over a thousand wedding dresses but have never been married. I wanted to reclaim this through the power of performance. I wear a wedding dress designed by my mother. A transformation occurs, which also signifies a shift in the exhibition and in life itself, where I step out of the dress and dance freely in the suit, asking the question, “Is this really what you wanted?”
The entire exhibition was then presented in UV light as part of the broken facade.
My works are like photographs of a moment combined with one of my life memories, painted with body and soul.
At Arte Laguna, I aim to recreate this moment, starting with live music, where I sing overtone chants and play the deer drum to enhance the entrance. Then paint with my body blind folded on the canvas. See attached video.
