Participants: Lisa Sazonova, Masha Molokova, Elena Kolesnikova, Dima Stepanov
Note: "The number of degrees of freedom of a mechanical system is the number of independent coordinates that completely determine the position of the system in space.»
Participants of performance using musical instruments tried to define, measure extracting sound waves of "Degree of freedom" of the sleeping area of Novo-Molokovo,
Drifting around the area, moving along an undisclosed route, the performers extracted sounds from their own instrument. The form of performance is experimental. Each of the participants lived the experience of tuning the sound extracted by himself with the sounds extracted by other participants of the performance, the sounds of the environment (everyday life) to the conditional resonance in which architecture and people were involved. Enveloping buildings, changing, sound waves created every new second a new cast of space, elusive and different for each listener located in this space.
Opposition sound / silence is actualized in crisis, dangerous moments of human life. Denial of speech (silence) is used to obtain certain benefits or useful information. Breaking the silence and regaining his voice, man regains his rights, indicating his place in space. During the performance there were several resonances with the residents of the district, with children who unconsciously entered into a dialogue with the participants of the performance, manifesting themselves through sounds.
Traditional folk wind instruments (fuyara, Khen, Kena), voice and singing bowl were used for the performance. Wind instruments are very similar in sound to the human vocal apparatus and were the prototype of the voice, working on the principle of inhalation and exhalation. Traditional wind instruments had their social, political and religious function in the community where they were used. In performance, this moment is important, the reconstruction of social relations through sound.
