'Bag
Lady' is the first part of a transmedia
socially engaged art project that has lasted for over one year.
This
work explores the loss of identity that our global society is
experiencing caused by the over use of social media and the
subsequent mental issues that arise from it.
The
work had two main elements:
1_
Social media activism, posting a different selfie in the same
position for 365 days with 365 different outfits. Informative
captions to highlight the scope of the problem accompanied the
photos. Part of this element was noticing the emotional effect
of posting a different selfie every day and understanding the real
investment of time in doing so.
As
part of this element, during Mental Health Awareness Week, I posted a
series of informative and motivational signs as well.
2_
A series of durational public performances. There were 4 phrases
written on the front and back of her limbs.

She
wandered around and every 4 or 5 steps snapped a selfie regardless of
where she was. She stopped to speak with people if they interacted
with her, but she always and only stared at her phone.
