The performative act is an exercise that follows up on the information and discussions recovered from the dialogos project: resonances about suicide and the media discourse that moralizes, capitalizes, reduces and invisibilizes the subjects who decide to take their own lives and places them as scapegoats within a society that suffers from the right wing, the processes of industrialization/modernization by the State and the ultra-conservatism guided by the clergy-State relationship.
My body has been scanned through open source tools to then be used within an Unreal Engine (video game engine) and generate a piece of virtual reality software that reproduces the space where the performance takes place and where 171 bodies are hung by the neck (the most common method of suicide in Aguascalientes) to be subsequently unhooked one by one and deposited on the floor reproducing the iteration of the bodies that are spliced and collapse generating a constant glitch in the visualization of the software. All this happens while we listen to local academics and researchers talk about the status of their investigations that do not reach conclusive conclusions and that ultimately show to be the result of institutions that approach their investigations in a biased way (because of their commitment to the state's discourse) and their incompetence to address the problem multidimensionally.
