This Hexaptych is number 8 in a series of 9 works ( 3 bronzes,1 stone sculptures; 4 paintings and this installation which combines painting and sculpture) featuring what it means to be a woman. In attempting to detail the history of Art from three thousand years ago to the present from a non Eurocentric, global perspective, it became obvious that every well known Artist borrowed ideas and technique from all those who came before. Therefore,I began to juxtapose the dot painting of the Australian aborigines with that of Seurat; Giacometti’s sculpture with the caveman drawings etc. It appeared that the only original Artist was the entity who created the universe.so I highlighted the vibrating sound She produced when She did so ( Om, later also called Amen or Ameen in Islam) The most original human creative minds seemed to be the ones who, realizing that human beings need a guardian angel to help them weather tough times came up with the concept of God. So the topmost panel of this Hexaptych represents every religion. The glaring omission of women in the annals of Art History led to the sculpture of the artist on the lower right panel, whose tears leap off the painting and land in a puddle on the floor below. A Calder like sculpture that projects 15 inches in front of this painting is also not depicted in the photo I am submitting as both these features require that this piece be installed first and it was easier for me to lay the six pieces on the floor to take the shot. There is a debate raging here in USA now as to what is and is not Fine Art. I have included a sculpture of the hottest selling piece of “Art†in every interior design space- a round mirror surrounded by feathers painted silver, which incidentally mirrors Anish Kapoor’s minimalistic Art, which harkens back to the ancient Indian concept that we should view the world as a mirror and see ourselves in every living thing around us.Finally,I have included a sculpture of the banana duck taped to the wall at the Art Basel in Miami last week
