his piece wants to represent a very personal view of Piazza del Duomo.
I was inspired by the story of a great woman, a prostitute, Marta de Codevachi. In Milan she was known as La Donona, the Big Woman. Thanks to her job Marta had become rich, but at one point she had repented and decided to change her life, helping poor people. In 1394 Marta fell seriously ill and her thoughts went to the new church which was erecting in the city center. She called the notary and sent all her possessions to the Duomo yard.Shortly after Marta died and a majestic funeral was organized for her, worthy of a noblewoman. The long procession accompanied the coffin through the streets where once she had sold her body.
I see the square as a place where Marta still lives, humble, still and proud. I would use the movement of the birds (pigeons, very typical in this square) to create contrast with the immobility of the big woman
