I’ve once heard a
story about a Southeast Asian boy who was mocked for the “dirt” on the joints
of his fingers. He went home and
scrubbed his fingers and toes with a steel scour, scrubbed until the “dirt” was
off and there was only red, dripping over his fingers and toes. But there was no dirt – it was simply the
colour of this skin.
