At first
glance, the characters move away from the blinds to watch what is happening in
the outside world. But in fact, the blinds symbolize the passage from
interiority to exteriority, and reveal faces and looks that question, each in
his own way, and according to his experience, the reality that surrounds him.
Two scenes
make up this painting.
On the one
hand, eyes turned to different directions, belonging to beings of different
ages, genders and origins, to express so many singular questions and peculiar
to each one, according to his experience, his present moment and his
expectations. They spread the blinds, as if to open their minds in order to
find answers and direction.
On the
other hand, this completely apparent face which, unlike the others, does not
discard the blinds and looks without seeing: he is in full introspection.
