Waves: A Visual and Emotional Odyssey
My artistic journey of exploring the theme “Waves” is presented on canvas with vibrant acrylic colours and jute thread highlights which further accentuates the intricacy of the subject.
Each and every particle in the universe that exists in mind or matter is made of energy, which is constantly pulsating and vibrating at different frequencies propagating energy through emitting waves. Waves weather in form of infrared, ultraviolet, radio, sound, light, seismic, tidal or even human emotions are a universal language that transcends universal borders. My work seeks to capture the essence of waves in all their diversities.
The movement of the storyline on canvas is from bottom to the top and engages with the narrative on multiple levels. The bottom horizontal section represents universal waves with varied frequencies.
As your gaze moves upwards the middle section displays the frequency of waves humans can experience through their five senses. The range is limited with in the broader electromagnetic and acoustic spectrum. The visible spectrum can be experienced as continuum of colours that are typically observed in a rainbow.Each vertical bar in this central region represents a unique frequency being perceived by humans. Every vertical bar has five golden boxes which symbolize five senses through which humans perceive the environment enveloping them.
The frequency being highest for purple and lowest for red is portrayed through both the length of the vertical colour bar and the increasing wavelength of the jute thread (which implies
decreasing frequency) as it moves towards the red bar.
The top most section concludes the drama by projecting how human experiences and emotions are perceived as an interplay of varying frequencies. The large golden square delineates our brain, which after processing the feedback from the senses and conscious awareness comprehends an emotion for the mind – “Euphoric being the highest frequency and Melancholy being the lowest frequency of wave”
