This painting comes from a series of works based of the concept of food in cinema, the possibilities of food and the way food and sexual desire are intertwined. Often in film food acts a third party - the viewer, the actor, and the food item. I look at ways food is used in language and without language to portray or evoke an array of emotions. The scene depicted is from Tampopo (by Itami Juzo 1985) and it shows a sexy and unconventional use of food by using egg yolk as a sexual stimulator. The scene shows lovers passing an egg yolk back and forth between their mouths leaving the audience feeling amused, disgusting and slightly titillated.
