Contemporary interpretation of an old family photo of my dad and sister using mixed media of textured paper, acrylic and oil paints. In this piece I explored concepts of nostalgia and parental connections. I aimed to depict the bond of a father and daughter, the daughter wears the shoes of the father and learns and grows from him. He guides her from behind as she steps into his shoes and moves ahead, the same way children eventually must move on from our youth and become independent while still having that parental influence and support from behind.
