In this
work, I chose to replicate the famous Matisse painting with added figures and
tubular red shapes. My intention was to tell a visual story and extend the
highly regarded Matisse masterpiece into 2 sections.
First, the
participants of the dance are separated, each in his own world... Some stood
around and others relaxing or sitting down, all singular and looking uninspired
or bored. The red tubulars here are like fences.
Then, we
have them engaging in a dance. Now all of them are connected and the red
tubular fences actually unify them as a single group of humans. In fact, I am
just saying that individually we are alone, even forsaken and useless, but once
we are joined, we are bold, colorful and happy.
