Diptique from the project of "Thalasso", made on 60x80 cm regular canvas and 60x120 cm angled canvas
For thousands of years the sea is known for its healing properties.
Even an image of the sea, a physical or imagined, can have positive
influence on the mental and physical state of a human. Leaning on
modern scientific data of environmental psychology and neuroaesthetics
I want to create a space with the illusion of being underwater – in
real life a place, unaccustomed for human existence and broad
influence, free of technological impact and with it a perfect
undisturbed place to tranquilize and relax the mind.
The basis of
the project are several realistic underwater paintings in bluish and
greenish shades, shown gallery rooms with minimal spot light and
lamps, generating the illusion of water movement. These visual
elements are known to have a calming effect on the neural system.
Accompanied by breathing instructions via the headphones the viewer
can experience a meditative state.
The
constantly increasing amount of information form the outer world
often overloads the human brains, resulting in a lot of mental
disorders.
The project shall provide a temporal opportunity to step out of the
flow, with all the components limiting the sensual flood into the
brain and giving it an opportunity to rest and recharge.
