Here is recent painting I made of a man.
The idea was to paint a figure from memory and
imagination in order to represent a living presence in
human form. In this way emotions can be transmitted through the painting
and the viewer is challenged to ask themselves why they recognize solidity
and shape. The pose is an expression of the confinement of the body and the
nudity evokes a freedom, without it being care-free but a freedom from self
possession and self righteousness.
The pose of the figure is calm and tense at the same time, showing a vibrant
contrast, as he wanted to move but stuck in a painting surface.
Signed top left corner.
