THREE WOMEN 1
This painting is inspired by the life of 3 women, with a pretty similar character, whose life choices have led to fairly homogeneous developments. The changes of colours, from light turquoise to dark blue-violet, symbolically represents their different states of minds, in happy times and in dark times. In the central painting I have summarized, through chromatism only, the basic character structure they have in common. In the two paintings on the left and on the right, I have inserted the mental maps of the main events of their lives.
For years I worked as a psychoanalyst and it was natural for me to draw “mental maps” to underline the correlations between what was happening in the present and the most hidden and sometimes unconscious causes. I needed to have a visual image of the situation and of the cause-effect links. When I dedicated myself to painting, I tried to chromatically recreate these mental maps, that are able to summarize entire life paths.
