As a Chinese born in
the 1980s, family planning is a memory of a generation. Because one child per
family was the norm at the time, my childhood was a lonely one. I therefore
always sought refuge in fantasy, assuming I had other brothers to keep me
company. In this work, I have used images of my daughter to reconstruct my
childhood. These images come from my records of her growing up. I have tried to
use colour to create a strange atmosphere that gives the viewer a feeling of
being both reachable and yet ungraspable.
